QUOTE OF THE DAY (OR MORE): "No, no. You don't understand. This is an '89 Calico. I'm pretty sure that exceeds the Kelly Blue Book value. The cat's totaled." --A comedian whose name I forget talking about a vet who presents a $3,000 bill for a 12-year-old cat

Who's on first?

The 13-year-old was doing some last-minute studying for his French quiz on the way to school this morning....

13-year-old: "Mom, what does 'quoi' mean?"

me: "what."

13-year-old: "quoi."

me: "what."

13-year-old: "Quoi, Mom..."

me: "It means 'what,' son."

  2. My brother went over to see if the neighbor boy could "Come out and play."
"Can he?!" I shouted as he returned.
    "What?"
"Can he?" I asked when we were face-to-face.
    "What?"
    "Can he?" I repeated.
    "What? What? What?" he insisted.
    My brother's name is Kenny.

  6. I had a Chinese friend whose last name was Hu, pronounced like 'who,' who was in Who's Who. He played the violin, not baseball.
